Bernadine Vida
is dedicated to providing the best in professional
Costume & Set design in Film, Theater, Television,
Music and Dance and stunning location and travelogue
photography - "Glimpses of Life in Other Places."
I began my professional career in 1979 at the Detroit
Repertory Theater, after years of what seemed like
fitfull education at the Society of Arts and Crafts
in Detroit and Parsons School of Design in New York
I was eager to get experience in the "real world."
Then came apprenticeships at the Fort Mason Playhouse
and the ACT Theater in SanFrancisco, (along with any
free-lance gigs I could get my hands on !) and voila!
- my first professional commission landed me back
in my home town at the "Rep". Since then
I have expanded to all areas of the entertainment
spectrum - from Film to Dance and all mediums in between!
My work has graced performances by heralded performers
such as Elton John in concert, Tom Wopat in "Annie
Get Your Gun", Roddy McDowall in "Dial M
for Murder", Martha Reeves and the Vandellas
in concert, the Winans, "All Night Strut",
HBO's "61* " directed by Billy Crystal,
PBS family series "China" directed by Jeffrey
Wray, "Standing in the Shadows of Motown"
directed by Paul Justman, and Eminem's bio pic "8
Mile" - just to name a few. Innovative and resourceful,
I can pull a rabbit out of the perverbial hat - at
a moments notice!
